Hosting

Hosting, with a person behind it.

Every site in this library runs on a server I own and look after myself. If you want yours here too, this is what that means.

One person, start to finish

Your site runs on a dedicated Debian Linux server behind nginx, not on a crowded shared plan. The server, the certificates and the configuration are set up and watched by the same person who answers your email. No ticket queue, no outsourced first tier.

Moving an existing site

Coming from GoDaddy, Bluehost, Wix, Squarespace or a WordPress host? It starts with a look at your current site and a short call. Your new site is built at a staging address first, and nothing switches over until you say so. Your domain stays registered in your name.

Built light, kept fast

Images, fonts and caching are tuned on the server itself, so pages open quickly on an ordinary phone. Pages are served over HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, on IPv4 and IPv6.

Built to be found

Every site gets clear page titles and descriptions, structured data that says who the business is, a sitemap and sensible crawler rules. They are set up while the site is built, not added later.

Security

Every site is served over HTTPS with certificates from Let's Encrypt that renew on their own, and with security headers that tell browsers how to treat the page. Found a security problem on any site here? Email admin@thatdeveloperguy.com. I answer those first.

See it running

The 172 works in the library are hosted here, and the 29 in the Gone live wing are running on their own domains today.

What it costs

Every site is different, so I quote after a look at yours. Ask, and you get a plain number.
